Martin Carthy - An evening of Folk

The Palm House plays host for the first time to the very best of folk and traditional music as we present an evening with Martin Carthy, one of the most influential figures on the scene.

From the mid sixties folk revival to the present day resurgence, Martin Carthy has remained a leading light both as a solo artist, collaborator and member of acts such as Steeleye Span, Waterson/Carthy, Blue Murder and, most recently, The Imagined Village.

31 solo albums and another 33 as “participant” are testimony to a career outstanding in its own right as well as inspiring such luminaries as Bob Dylan and Paul Simon in former years and continuing as a “godfather” to the new young revivalists of today.

BBC Folk Singer of the Year in 2002 and 2005, Martin Carthy was awarded an MBE in 1998 for his services to English music.
